The anime series, with its title shortened to simply Koihime Musō, featured a story very different to that found in the original visual novel. Koihime Musou is a very light anime that doesnt requires the viewer to analyze much. The original protagonist, Hongo Kazuto, is not present in the anime, nor does the grand battle between the three kingdoms take place. At first, due to the way the characters act, the colors applied to the anime, and the different songs and sound effects that you get to hear, you think this anime is very childish and that its directed to kids. Instead, it feature Kan'u's adventure in China, meeting many other characters from the game along the way. The anime is set before the Han empire fell and the power struggle between the warlords began. Kan'u, a traveling warrior who fights bandits, visit a town where she encounters RinRin and her troublemaker friends. While most of the town find their antics funny, the Mayor isn't when he decides to send his soldiers to catch her until Kan'u volunteers to do it herself. This anime is loosely based on the classic Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.Having lost her family to bandits during night raid, Kanu swears, she will not let others share the same pain.
